Who We Is.
Carbon Based Design Technologies is named after the idea that plants, animals, plastics, and petroleum all share the same molecular building block. As designers, we must acknowledge this, or forever be doomed by cancer-causing cellphones, toxically-abrading tennis shoes and noxious-fume spewing vehicles all working to turn our world into useless "waste" as fast as possible.
Together, we are inextricably linked.
Awareness of our- and our surroundings- fragility has prompted our modus, while Mr. Ned- our H. Neanderthalensis logo- reminds us of our inevitable return to the cycles that Mother Nature intended (and he also helps keep things a bit more rock n roll). As designers, we are responsible for developing and introducing the products, systems and methods of information transmission that will shape our future world and, thus, we take responsibility for doing the best we can for us, for the user, and especially for Earth.
Carbon Based Design Technologies is like a ring of friends who like doing and making things; although this site provides a look at our professional work, it also shows our private work and is actively used as a platform for us, by us, its members. Where change is the only constant these days, an evolving collection of work and ideas aptly demonstrate our commitment to design, showing how far and wide we go to apply our aesthetic.
We are Aesthetes. And this is what we do.
The majority of our projects have been largely handled by Alex and Carlos, although more than a few times we've called in the skills of our Associates in Crime, depending. So far we've rebuilt cars, customized bicycles, built some furniture, and hacked a few computers. Then we did some stuff to pay the bills; a hand full of identity campaigns, a few poster series, a website here and there, and some other graphic type stuff.
Enjoy.
