Wheelchair Cart Conversion
Developing countries have hands, not money, so the idea of this project was to simultaneously address 1) the needs of the wheelchair bound user to transport goods, and 2) create an easily manufacturable product from readily available parts, namely available tubing and bicycle parts.
Under the Guidance of Whirlwind Wheelchairs and San Francisco State University, Alex Zeh created this conversion kit for a standard wheelchair, allowing the user to attach (or have attached) a weight-bearing cart that allows the user to transport various goods. Although in its skeletal form, this is a working prototype. The design is purposefully rough, because its need to be able to be made under the most stark conditions.
