for one thing, isnt that framed ferrari poster from 1984 amazing? best damn 5 dollars i done did spent! secondly, yes, there are literally like 7 different patterns / prints / wallpaperings in my bathroom. but i can explain! ive been testing out ideas to see what works and what doesnt. what you see is probly half – or less! – of the prints ive done trial runs with. currently, the theory is that ill decide on one, and then do everything from the shower around. but for now its a jungle, and, sometimes, it makes me wonder ‘how do i keep… all this crap all over the place!?!?!”
soon, soon.

pig roast! pig roast! tickets to a pig roast! so these were actually really fun to make; its sort of hard to make out (i suffer from crappy-camera-phone-itus) but each section (two per side) features a watermarked pig in the background, my favorite of which has all the butcher’s cuts demarcated on him (so rad!).

ps. yes. i see the “suasage” typo. client content! client approved! what can i say!?!?!

i forgot i even made these! a few summers back, we had a bounty of peppers n thangs we’s done did grew, so i figured it would be a pretty bad-ass christ mass gift if i made home made hot sauce – complete with label! – for all the friends and fam! reports came back quick that everyone loved the roasted flavors, while the habenero’s really brought some flame to the forefront!
i need to make some that again! that was pretty good stuff…

finally got this thing figured out! should be here in a coupla weeks. i like the owl! hes fun. and if you stand back far, it looks like it says “PLANT DUNDALK” which i like too. subtle? who, me?

Preview of a new potential product! Basically its just a nice cutlery tray, but im trying to see what i can build thats as minimal as possible (huh!) yet still effective at wranglin’ dem varmits!
finally finalized the design on the towel rack, when heidi goes “hey id like one! but oh! i also need another, different one!” great! back to the drawring board!
oh i jest. it was actually a pretty easy mod; all i really had to do was cut down some stock to be symmetrical, decide where the center shelf would be be, and whack it a lot to make sure everything fit!
made of reclaimed two-by’s and 1/2 inch MDO.

you know, where you keep cats. because they’re easy to control. right.
no so actually, whenever it got freezing cold at heidi’s her cats – Mitch, after Mitch Headberg, and Nikka (prounced “NEH-cuh”, after no one) – would congregate around whatever radiator was available. however, because their ridged tops are not really conducive to cat butts, they could only ever get so close, so heidi asked i make some sort of platform for them to chill out… er… warm up on.
voila!

mitch, giving the new shelf a very luxurious test-sprawl.

nikka, giving it an investigative strut-return-and-strut-again.

both made from reclaimed wood.
so ive been thinking it might be nice to break up the heavy pattern action of the wallpaper. even though its a small room, mind bending patterns might not be the most *ahem* friendly in the morning, nor for any other time when youd want to shower. you know shower, pleasant time, peace, whatever.
so ive drafted up some sketches of what id like using some found imagery on the net. basically its a three panel triptych with the widest being the middle that runs the length of the shower. the images dont necessarily have to match, so much as give the impression you are showering in an awesome space.

trying to make some rad wall paper for me bathing room. i always like mind bending stuff, although because i can make it me self, there is very little time commitment. heres some proofs.
a one-to-one zoom on the print i have up now in test phase – need to see if it gets the “girlfriend stamp of approval”; tradition, made of some floral elements i rotated (illustrator > effect > distort & transform > transform), plus an ink blot, a lion, a stag and some upside down stars -hail santa!:

and heres one i made today, thats a little more geometric, less floral, less traditional, and totally more mind bendy! (thats the loopable image, but it will be about 4 feet tall when printed):

actually the hardest part – which im sure is all math – is figuring out how to draw the boundaries, so the graphic loops. i think one of my next stops is to make an incorrectly looping image, but whose incorrect loop is ALMOST unnoticeable.
what do you get when your customer asks for a plunger to be added to the baltimore skyline?

and actually, i dont think it turned out half bad, although my favorite party is dorky and only knowable by me; the black is black cut vinyl, while the gradient portion is actually printed, laminated and then contour cut. deadly combo!

ok not years later, but i swear im so bad at photodocumenting, it feels like it. anyways, took some shots of what its looks like for literally forever, only i just somehow didnt document it. back legs still dont have their final covers glued on, because i kind of liked the subtle difference between then front to back. also have plans to add som support rods to the whole set up – there by ruining all the chairs lines, i know – but since i took it home for testing, and tested it, it basically failed. its got these major cracks up the front lip dead-center, from where the front legs literally want to splay.
here is chair as chair is now:

detail shots:

heres a towel rack i made, out of reclaimed scrap from around the shop. still needs a bit of refinement – i got to get my dado to cut JUST a hair shy of what it cuts when set to be .5 inches, but i know all it needs is a bit of experimenting. soon to be for sale in my new web store! more photos to follow once its ‘el perfecto.’

here be a fresh one, and it still needs some tweaking, but the idea is there. and actually, its not really that fresh – this exact layout occurred to me about 10 years ago before i had something to stick it on to, so i just sort of filed it away under “designs for a later point in life” or something. im liking – who am i kidding, i always like – futura, but i might something JUST a bit different. always hated the futura C’s, for instance. and the R’s too. and R is such a great letter shape!

yes, i really drawr this bad. no really. its like, always been this way. but it also always turns out.
anyways, i painted some stuff.

this one was all series taping. you can see where the masking took off the crappy paint job (i did from way back) inbetween the stripes. also, incase you didnt click that link it used to be all white. well, after it was all beige.

this one was pretty much point and paint (although i did tape off the sockets).

don needed to ‘pimp his ride’ so we both agreed a few giant digits were pretty much the clear choice for going forward!

heres a coat rack i made this week. its called “nobody’s perfect,” and is made of 1/8th inch aluminum, with a CNC machine. besides being silly, a bit adult, sort of ridiculous and totally rad all at the same time, it also features the debut of a logo i came up with about 10 years ago, but never had any furniture upon which to place it. more on that later, but for now, just dig the total amazing ridiculousness of “nobody’s perfect.”

heres my newest table. erm,… it was designed to hold all my media stuff including my records. its made of 3/16ths 1.5″ angle iron, mig-welded together, and sports an annoyingly rare (read: hard to get hands on) all birch plywood top and shelf, which was quarter rounded and tung oiled. ill probly expound on this one later (im super tired right now, and about to hit the sack) but for now, im just lobbing a bunch of photos on line.
enjoy!

another thing we knocked together at work with some spare wood i literally chopped out of old pallets. REALLY raised flower beds, 4 for the back, 3 for the front, all hand stained and (for a while) actually playing host to herbs & flowers! don helped me put em together, while camilo helped me knock up the little “7″ brackets.

heres a little something don and i knocked together using some scrap bits i had laying around. its intent and current use is to give my main bass / guitar amp – 1983 acoustic control corporation b115 – some mobility while in use, and provide effect pedal and cable storage when not. thing works great. thanks don!
